Day 3 of the Model Assembly looks similar to the Party Platform practice day. We will be meeting up at Cal Poly in the same rooms and examining all passed bills in structure and general debate.
For structure debate, we will be hearing the problem, solution and party stance of each bill. Each speech should be 45 seconds long. If you are a Democrat and you need to review a Republican bill, you will have no Republicans in the room so somebody in the Democrat party will need to present each speech.
This should have been assigned out by the chairs at the end of day 2.
After we examine as many bills as we can in the time we have, chairs will be assigning out speeches for day 4. For Day 4, there will be 3 minute and 1 minute speeches. If I am a Democrat, for every Democrat bill you need a 3 min and 1 min pro speech. If I am a Democrat, for every Republican bill you need a 3 min and 1 min con speech (and vice versa for Republicans). If you already gave the speech, yes you can give the same one.
What happens if your bill is not supported in day 3?
It just means you don't have party support for day 4. But it will be presented on day 4. One possible idea is to use motion to amend in general debate in day 4 if your bill is not supported in day 3 to improve its chances to pass.
Be on-time for day 3 and day 4 for proficiency consideration (so yes can't earn a P if you are late). Dress professional for day 4.
